This site is at the start of the 2.8 KM portage down to Fairy Lake. As far as portage sites go, this is a pretty decent one. It’s got a good-sized footprint, room for at least a couple of tents and a nice view. The terrain, while backing onto a hill, is flat around the site proper. The canoe landing doubles as a portage take out, which means it’s easily accessible and leaves lots of room for loading/unloading. The underwater approach is free of obstructions as well.
Are there better sites nearby? I wouldn’t say nearby, the other site on Animoosh looked about the same, but for my money I’d rather keep going to Dickson if possible. Dickson Site 10 is a great option if you can get up there.
