This is a nice little site on Big Bob’s east shore. It’s well set up, easy enough to get to if you don’t mind a couple of longer portages and has great views. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a place to stay in the area.

Terrain: The site is split into two parts. There’s a fire pit and sitting area on a rocky platform overlooking the water. That’s separated from a second area by a stand of trees. This second spot is bigger, and would be good for a couple of tents. There’s a small rise from the water to the site proper, but other than that the terrain is fairly easy to handle.

Canoe Landing: I can say with certainty that on a windy day, the canoe landing isn’t the best. It’s a fairly rocky shoreline here and there isn’t a natural spot to pull the boat up. I ended up wedging it between a couple of rocks (and probably on top of a few more) and that wasn’t an ideal scenario as the wind was pushing the boat into the rocks repeatedly.

Fire Pit: The fire pit is situated on a cleared rocky area at the front of the site. The pit is pretty basic, but it’s got an awesome view west on Big Bob.

Tent Sites: There’s room for a few tents back behind the fire pit area. The tent pads are nicely sheltered, so you get the best of both worlds between the more exposed front and shaded back.

Swimmability: Big Bob looks like an awesome lake to swim in. The access to the water here is fine. The rockiness of the shoreline is less a problem here as it gives you some handy spots to climb in. That said, you’ll want water shoes.

Thunderbox: The thunderbox is in decent shape. It’s down a path back of the site. If I recall correctly it wasn’t too close to the rest of the site.

Accessories: This is a fairly basic site. There are a couple of decent log benches by the fire pit, and that’s about it.

Views: The view from the site is west and it’s awesome!

Notes: This seemed like a great site. The only possible drawback is that there is a wetter looking area along the shore just to the south. That may make things a bit buggier in the early season, but it certainly wasn’t a problem when I was there in August.
