This is a decent site on Booth’s east shore. It’s big enough for a medium sized group, maybe even a larger one if you don’t mind cozying up to your trip partners.
Terrain: The east side of Booth is lined by a wide, flat stretch just up from the shore. I believe it used to a railway. This means that most of the sites along this shore, this site included, have flat areas to a degree you don’t usually find in the Park. There is a bit of a slope up from the water, but all in all this is an easy site to navigate.
Canoe Landing:The landing is an opening in the shoreline growth that’s wide enough for a couple of canoes (if they’re pulled in tight). It’s easy to get in and out on the gradual beach and the underwater approach is clear of obstacles.
Fire Pit: This is a nice fire pit set up. Just up from the water, it’s got a semi-obstructed view out to Booth. That is probably a good thing. When the wind is blowing onshore on Booth it can make for chilly conditions, so a bit of protection helps.
Tent Sites: That flat stretch I mentioned behind the site is great for tents. You can fit a few here comfortably, without being too close to your neighbour.
Swimmability: This is a decent site for swimming. The underwater terrain is sand mixed with rocks. You might stub your toe wading out, but it’s not like you’re hopping from slippery rock to slippery rock.
Accessories: There’s a pretty impressive counter set up here. Two levels, room for all your backcountry kitchen gear. The benches around the fire pit are less impressive. There are a couple, but they’re basic (but, honestly, do you really need more than basic from a backcountry site?)
Views: Semi-obstructed western exposure from the site interior, nice views across Booth from the shoreline.
Notes: This is a decent site and I’d happily stay here is Booth was my destination. I might try for Site 6 or Site 10 first, but this is solidly in the middle tier for me.
