This is Bridle Lake’s only campsite, and it’s a good one. Located on the lake’s east side, it’s got a decent footprint, nice views and good tent spots.
The underwater approach to the site did have a couple of rocks and logs just under the surface when we were there, but nothing too difficult to avoid. The canoe landing itself is basically just a break in the shoreline brush, with enough room to load and unload one canoe at a time. The swimming didn’t look all that spectacular to me owing to the overgrown shoreline and mucky lake bottom, but it didn’t look terrible either.
The site itself is level and easy to navigate. There are a couple of roots poking up out of the pine needles here and there, but otherwise not much in the way of obstacles or tripping hazards. There’s room for at least a couple of medium sized tents here, if not more.
The fire pit area is well set up, with a couple of benches and nice pit. There are views from the pit out to the lake, most of which are semi-obstructed save the view due west. There are a couple of campsite add-ons, including a sturdy enough looking counter.
The best thing about this site is that it’s likely pretty private. I doubt the Kitty to Shirley route that it lies on is used all that much, and if you’ve booked this site you’ve also booked the lake since there are no other sites available. Would be a great spot to get some privacy without having to venture too far from the access point.
Are there better sites nearby? Nope. This is the only game in town.
