Site Location

This is a hidden gem of a site just north of the portage up from Timberwolf Creek. Not only is the site fantastic, but it’s near a very pretty waterfall and, at least when we were there, had a friendly neighbourhood moose.

Misty Lake – Site 13 – Fire Pit

Of course, I can’t guarantee a moose sighting, but I can guarantee this is a decent spot to spend a night or two, even if you go moose-less. This is a good sized site with room for at least a couple of tents, if not more. The site is surrounded by trees along the shoreline, but does not feel enclosed. That’s likely due to the very accessible stretch of beach fronting the site which makes accessing and loading/unloading the canoes very easy. This also doubles as a nice place to swim, as the underwater terrain is sandy and mostly free of toe stubbing (or canoe scratching) obstacles.

The site proper is flat enough, with a nice fire pit set up. The pit was well constructed, with high walls and a good view out to the water. There was one bench when we were there, so it wouldn’t hurt to have your own camp chair if you’ve got a larger group.

Are there better sites nearby? Not really. While Misty has a lot of sites, this is the only one in this general part of the lake, and it’s awesome.
