I’m going to save you some time. You don’t need to stay here. Got a permit for Mole? Go to Site 1 instead. It’s less than two minutes of extra paddling if you’re coming from Godda, and only means retracing your steps for two minutes if you’ve come from Booth. Trust me, it’s the better option.

(Oh, you want some actual information rather than abject negativity? Fine).

This is a small site. It’s a clearing on Mole’s western shore just steps off the portage up to Godda Lake. In fact, the best way to access this site is from that portage. There’s a trail about ten meters up from the water that splits off from the portage and leads over to the campsite. This is good, because the front of the campsite itself is very overgrown. I don’t actually know how you’d push a canoe through the wall of crap guarding its shore. If you did manage that feat, what you’d find would be a small, overgrown, clearing with a small, overgrown, fire pit and not much else. The campsite sign isn’t facing the water like it does on most sites, but instead faces the portage and marks the start of the (very short) path back to the site’s thunderbox. The box is, like the site, underwhelming. Go to Site 1.

(Okay, if I’m looking for something positive to say, this would be a very sheltered site. If you were staying here in the fall or spring you wouldn’t have to worry too much about a sharp onshore breeze dropping the temperature another five degrees).

Are there better sites nearby? This entire post is basically an answer to that question. But, for completion’s sake: yes, there are better site’s nearby.
