This is the more appealing of the two Pine River sites on the Tim. It’s not a big site, but it’s flat and has a nice view out to the river. The site is located at a bend in the river a couple kilometers downstream from the first site. Despite the p460 in between the two, it’s worth the extra effort to get here. While it’s a small-ish site, there’s enough flat space for a good sized tent, or maybe even a couple of small tents if you don’t mind getting cozy with your neighbour. The canoe landing is wide enough for one boat, but there is a bit of a current that can make loading and unloading more of a challenge. The underwater approach is fine and free of obstacles. There’s a small climb up to the site itself, but once you’re up there the site is remarkably flat. The fire pit area is fine and has a view out to the water. I’d be happy to stay here for a night, particularly if I’d had a long day and didn’t want to tack on another ten or so kilometers to get to Shippagew (this is the last campsite before Shippagew).
Are there better sites nearby? Nope. This is the one.
