This site on White Partridge’s north shore is a great little spot. It occupies a small blip in the shoreline that isn’t quite a point, but gives you a nice wide angle exposure to the water regardless. The site is fronted by a sloping shelf of exposed rock that is perfect for catching the afternoon sun and slipping into the water. The underwater terrain is rocky, but certainly wadeable. The ground drops away fairly quickly, so you’d be able to swim from close to shore, but I wouldn’t recommend diving from the rocks.

The canoe landing is that same shelf of rock. The best spot we found was towards the northern edge of that shelf, where a very small spit of land juts out from the shoreline. This was a good spot to wedge the canoe in, while you can load/unload pretty much anywhere along that rock.

The site terrain is relatively level and easy to navigate. There is room for a couple of tents at least, and a nice fire pit setup not that far from the water. The views from pretty much anywhere on the site are partially obstructed at worst, and the sunset view from the rocks is spectacular. The thunderbox is accessible down a short path out the back of the site, and is in pretty good shape.

The fire pit area is quite nice. There’s a decent bench/counter, and the pit has a view towards White Partridge and the large island that sits just offshore. There is some tree shelter here as well, meaning it feels like this would be a decent spot in cooler weather.

The only downfall to this site is that it faces the horse packing sites in White Partridge’s north end. This means that there’s a chance that you’ll wake up the morning after one of the toughest days of trip you’ve ever done, feeling like you’ve made it to a place that very few other people will ever go, only  to see two pickup trucks unloading a motor boat about 300 meters away from your site.

Are there better sites nearby? This is the only site I’ve checked out on White Partridge, but it’s pretty damn good.
