This is a relatively compact site on Louisa’s north shore. It’s got a nice south exposure and is centrally located on the lake, both of which are positives. If I was on a solo trip, this would be a great option. For bigger groups, it might seem cramped.

Terrain: Fronted by a large shelf of rock, this is a flat, easy to navigate site. Nothing too exceptional to report here.

Canoe Landing: You can pull the canoe up to the rock shelf and load/unload sideways. There wasn’t a great spot to wedge the bow in and do a front or rear load. The underwater terrain includes some rocks, but is relatively clear.

Fire Pit: The fire pit is nicely located towards the back of the rock shelf. It’s got a nice view out to the water, but would likely be a bit exposed if the wind were blowing down Louisa (which is probably why the pit has a large, water-side wall).

Tent Sites: Room for a couple of tents, but wouldn’t be a good spot for a large group.

Swimmability: That shelf of rock makes for a great spot to slip in and out from. Swimming here would be very nice, although you might want some water shoes for the underwater rocks.

Accessories: There’s a sturdy enough log bench beside the fire pit, and that’s about it.

Views: Really nice views both east and west on Louisa. The site is open to the water, so you’ve got a good view of the lake no matter where you are.

Notes: This is a solid B of a site. Maybe even a B+. There are better sites on Louisa, but you’re not going to be disappointed if you end up with this one.
