This is a pretty decent site, as far as river sites go (full disclosure, I don’t love camping on rivers, so it takes a lot for me to like any river site). It’s got a wide, level footprint and room for at least a couple of tents, if not more. It’s located at a good spot on the river. You can explore upstream to High Falls or Remona and Whiskey Jack Lakes, or downstream to Grassy Meadow and … well, more river. The biggest knock against the site is that the water is down a steep-ish hill from the site. The put-in/take-out area is nice and sandy, so loading/unloading shouldn’t be a challenge. But the climb up from the river might get old.
Are there better sites nearby? Depends on what you mean by nearby. Nearby on the Nip? I’d say no. This is probably the best spot within 10 KM. However, if you want to head up the portage and stay on Nadine Lake, there are definitely better options up there.
