Site Location

This is a very small campsite at the downstream end of the P850 near Osler Marsh on the Nipissing River. You’ll notice I don’t have many pictures of it. That’s because there really isn’t much to take pictures of. There’s a very small clearing just off the portage path where there’s a very small fire pit and not much else. Down a short trail on the other side of the portage path you’ll find the Thunderbox (with a decent view of the portage. Which means the portage has a decent view of the thunderbox). The tent pad is along another short trail, but it’s not a great spot. It was back in a tangle brush and while there’s a decent footprint for one tent (at best), it’s not the best place I’ve ever seen to spend a night.  On the plus side, the view of the river here is quite nice. The Nip gets deeper between here and the Nadine portage, and it’s nice to see some wider banks and quicker water.

Are there better sites nearby? Yes. I’d take either High Falls Site 2 (a couple of kilometers upriver) or the Nadine-Nipissing Portage Site (four kilometers downriver) over this one.
