This is an incredible island site in the heart of Algonquin. The site is laid out over a couple of levels on a high hill overlooking Robinson. The canoe landing is at the western tip of the island and is easy enough to navigate with a couple of underwater rocks but nothing too canoe scratch-y lurking beneath the waterline. The terrain is relatively obstacle free, but it is certainly not flat. The site proper is well above the canoe landing. The path up has a pitch to it, but is definitely navigable. The top level of the site is where you’ll find the fire pit and at least one tent pad. Both are basic, but honestly, the view from up here makes up for it. The thunderbox is relatively close to the fire pit area, just FYI.
Are there better sites nearby? There are not.
