From far away, this site looks like it’s going to be really nice. It’s on a very small point (or, at least, it appears to be), and looks like it’s got a decent waterfront area. Then you get a bit closer, and you start to wonder if maybe it’s time to get your eyes checked.
Look, this could be a good site. It’s got a big enough footprint, it’s got a nice view of Skuce. It’s private. In fact, it’s got a bunch of qualities that should make it a great site, but they’re all just a bit off. That good footprint? Well, it’s true that it’s a nicely laid out site, but it’s also true that that footprint is overgrown and uncertain. The terrain is, for the most, part, level but not flat. It’s a rocky site, with plenty of half buried rocks poking up through the ground. You’d have to watch your step, particularly around the fire pit. Speaking of the fire pit, it’s located towards the front of the site with a decent view to the water. But that nice view meant the pit also felt pretty exposed. On a wet or windy day, this would be a tough spot to keep a fire going I think. For more details, check out the captions in the pictures below.
Are there better sites nearby? Yes. Site 2, just along the northern shore to the west is better. It’s not that Site 2 is all that good, it’s just not Site 3.
