Site Location

This is a basic, but decent site on Whiskey Jack’s south shore.  Of the three Whiskey Jack sites I checked out (sites 3-5), this was the biggest and most useable. It’s fairly sheltered which is a bonus during the shoulder seasons but would be, for me, a drawback during the summer months. I like my views of the water unobstructed thank you very much.

There’s room here for a couple of tents and a tarp if you’re so inclined. The fire pit area is basic, but fine. There are no accessories on the site (ie, no benches) unless you count what appears to be a rusted out door from an old wood stove.

The canoe landing area is good without much to get in your way as you approach. There’s an easy take out and not much to get in your way for loading and unloading. The swimming would be from the same spot and this I’m not as wild about as the lake bottom was pretty mucky. I mean, it’s a lake in Algonquin, so what can you really expect? But still, not my favourite site I’ve ever seen for swimming (it’s no Radiant Lake Site 9).

Are there better sites nearby? I’m not sure? I didn’t check out sites 1 or 2. Site 2 was already taken and looked like a decent spot from what I could see. I do know that Robinson Site 2, just one lake to the east, is probably one of my top five sites in the Park. So do with that what you will.
